It involves a physical data centre, network, firewalls/security and server storage.

PaaS

PaaS is an upgrade from the basic package. According to (azure.microsoft.com) “Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a complete development and deployment environment in the cloud, with resources that enable you to deliver everything from simple cloud-based apps to sophisticated, cloud-enabled enterprise applications.” PaaS package includes operating systems and the inclusion of development tools, database management and development analytics.

SaaS

When it comes to SaaS, this is the premium of the 3 packages. Azure.microsoft.com describes Software as a Service (SaaS) as something which “allows users to connect to and use cloud-based apps over the Internet. Common examples are email, calendaring, and office tools.” With SaaS, data centres are used to host the infrastructures, servers and the behind the scenes equipment which are needed to allow safe and secure cloud hosting.
